  1. For passengers do they need two pieces of identification to file with eAPIS?  No.  But, if you have an Alien Registration Card it must be the first piece of Id.  For the second piece of Identification, if it isn’t listed in the pop down list don’t use it. 
  1. If you, as father and son, fly over the border what documentation must you have?  The child’s passport and a letter from the other parent (notarized) permitting the father to take the child over the border.
  1. Before your arrival at the USA customs what advice might you give your passengers?
a)      Stay in the airplane until told you may leave.
b)      Don’t make any dumb comments, smart remarks etc. to the CB officer.
c)      Pleasure trip only you’re not going down to help build anything.

  1. For eAPIS do you need to supply a real address for the location you will be visiting?   Yes and you can look it up on line or 411 Etc.
  1. While working with eAPIS what would happen if you left inputting the arrival procedure to go have dinner?  eAPIS would lock you for inactivity and you would loose any information from the page you were working on. 
  1. If you were in Arlington and had to update your eAPIS information do you have your User name and password?  Write it down somewhere safe
  1. If you or someone you fly with uses the “CREW” input for your information, do you know what happens to it?  It is saved within yours or whomever loged into eAPSI.
  1. What do you know about the “Friend” or “BROTHER” that joined your flight today?  This could be a problem.  You need to ask if they have a record, they are on the no fly list etc.

Departing to the USA

Register with E-APIS well in advance.  While waiting for your access information try the tutorial down this page. Necessary LINKS are also below.

Print out and complete the notice of arrival and departure worksheets from the CBP Private Air eAPIS Guide. Also available down this page.

Confirm your aircraft has a current CBP sticker.  Note the number in the notice of arrival worksheets.

Check for AOE operation times and possible costs.

File an E-APIS arrival and departure submission form at least 1 hour before your planned departure time.

Call the AOE CBP and inform them of the local time of your arrival.  Ask for a badge number.  Note their phone number in case of changes.

File a flight plan with a CDN FSS.  Anywhere in North America 1-866-541-4101 or 1–866–wx brief (1-866-992-7433).  Have all required documents on board and ready for submission

- Pilot license - Valid Medical - A / C Registration - Radio License
- Pilot and Passenger Passports

Depart and arrive + - 15 minutes of your stated arrival.

DO NOT FORGET TO CLOSE YOUR FLIGHT PLAN UPON ARRIVAL IN USA

Departing to Canada

Call the Canadian Customs at least 2 hours in advance to inform them of the local time of your arrival. 1-800-can pass (1-800-226-7277).  Ask for the badge number.

Call the CBP and inform them of the local time of your departure.

File a flight plan with an American FSS.  1–800–wx brief (1-800-992-7433) Open it in the air and obtain a cross border transponder code.

Depart and arrive + - 30 minutes of your stated arrival.

After arrival call Canadian Customs to inform them of your return to Canada at 1-888-226-7277.  If they don’t come to inspect ask for the arrivals report number and record it in the aircrafts log book.
